Government guarantees London - Newquay air service with 4 year PSO
The Cornish Guardian reports that transport links to Cornwall have received a boost after the Government confirmed it will provide a four-year financial guarantee towards safeguarding the Newquay to London air link. The route has been under threat since last March when Flybe announced it would terminate its service.
The paper goes on to explain that the existence of a Public Service Obligation (PSO) – a subsidy allocated by the Government to maintain air connectivity in the furthest reaches of the UK – on the route between Newquay and London will see the Government providing a subsidy to an operator to deliver the connection for a four-year period. Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Ltd in the news again with an industry award
The Cornishman reports (21 March) that Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited were awarded the prize for Project of the Year at the Construction News Specialists Awards, held just over a week ago at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London. This follows recent reports of the Company winning a contract to provide scaffolding for works at Dawlish.

Scilly Transport issues in the political limelight - Will anything change?
FRIST representatives Marian Bennett and Tim Guthrie gave convincing oral evidence to the House of Commons Transport Committee today and members of the Committee were aghast at the extent of the problems and sympathetic. Cllr Chris Thomas, and Theo Leijer (new Chief Executive) also attended and spoke for the IOS Council. Scilly's transport problems were in the limelight today but the Chamber Chairman asks will anything change ?
