Cornwall Council has to reduce its spending on services by £196 million between now and 2018 because of reductions in Government block grant funding and a cap on Council Tax increases to below 2.0% without a public ballot (cost ~ £0.75 Million
and outcome uncertain). The Council is holding public consultation events and the local one is being held on Wednesday 8 Oct at the One Stop Shop at St Clare starting at 7.00 pm.
The £196 million budget cut over the next few years is approximately equal in value to one year of Council Tax revenue from the whole of Cornwall. The link here provides a summary of cuts affecting town centres. Cornwall Councils parent document which includes all of the cuts (a large a rather difficult document to navigate) can be found at http://tinyurl.com/kwblwbr
